The dominant cause of problems - stemming from human chimpoid nature when lacking proper social development into Libertarian concepts of voluntary interaction. Found wealth seems to really get the problem going. Who own's the oil? Nobody made it. So toughest guy owns it. No wonder there are problems.
The wealthiest countries seem to have not much in the way of found wealth. They have to create and trade their way to wealth in a voluntary exchange system. Japan is not exactly loaded with found wealth. Nor is Switzerland. Nor Luxembourg. Nor Ireland. Nor Sweden. Nor Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Even those relatively wealthy countries, which are still poverty stricken in absolute terms, have the chimpoid kleptocratic tendencies of taking what others produce by force [state force = taxation] to distribute to mates of the states.

And will. For example, I'm in the process of developing the Quid, to replace all state fiat currencies, including the US$. Arrogant people who boss people around tend to get resistance, albeit sneaky, as popping one's head up tends to get it stuck in gaol, sent to Siberia or shot.
The USA is in an excellent position to have a large influence on constituting the UN in a NUN design suitable for the 21st century. The chance is being frittered away in patriotic xenophobic nationalistic jingoism. I predict they will live to regret it. Though they won't even be aware that they had the opportunity. People full of hubris tend to think things are just hunky dory.
Come to think of it, I'm surprised King George II isn't gung ho for revamping the UN into a dinkum NUN with supranational world government functions as that would be a step on the road to Armageddon and The Rapture, which is dictated in Revelations [or somewhere] in Fundamentalist Christian ideology. He could do the work of God, big time. What an opportunity he has got. Maybe he has inadvertently been hijacked by Satan and misguidedly is opposing the very movements which would lead to the Second Coming and Rapture. The forces of good versus evil will meet at Armageddon, just up the road from Baghdad.
Somebody should telephone him and point out what he's omitting from God's plan = World Government. Not a totalitarian bossy-britches USSR-writ-large, but a Libertarian-style, free-trading, commons-protected and shared [by bids to the NUN for rights to commons property] New United Nations.
He has the troops near Armageddon, so he's in a good position to defeat evil and evil-doers. But he needs to get the NUN going first.
