I am a member of the first graduating class of Robert E. Lee Junior High School. We had a civil war cannon in our courtyard (which I fired off on graduation day with cherry bombs and was chased by the teachers for it), flew the confederate flag over our school and BELIEVE IT OR NOT wore CONFEDERATE UNIFORMS. IMAGIN that TODAY. Of course that was about 50 years ago. I remember we had one huge school wide fight over the Civil War. The melee was so large it occupied nearly the entire area of our football field. Was finally broken up, dont remember who won but dont recall anyone seriously injured. jdn
