Joe - I know how much you detest Microsoft so I had to post this recent article ...........

"...Microsoft bans applets, ZDNet reports Bill Gates' opposition to cross-platform language Java is so strong that Microsoft has issued an edict to Web developers to remove all applets from the company's Web sites, ZDNet reported Friday. The report says the ban on Java, developed by Sun Microsystems, is the result of several weeks' of study inside the company and "speaks volumes about Microsoft's antipathy toward Java." Webmasters are reported removing as many as 570 applets on the company's various Web sites, including MSN and the Microsoft Developer Network site, the report said..."

The Microsoft Web master was heard to say "....we are looking for better compatibility across browsers and other platforms...", so he is pulling out the "standard" Java applets....go figure???

You stated --- Now, why am I "nervous" about a company that is banking their "entire existence" on this paradigm (God, I hate that word <G>), shift?... Go with the flow Joe....you got CEO Schmidt's word that this will work (atleast by summer of 1998...you may see results).

What they need to do is get INTEL behind this "new paradigm" movement and then Gates will (and should) be concerned.
