How about 'Truth, justice and the dignity of man'. That would have gotten the same reaction in certain quarters, I think. Either way erases the "American way" bit, which is near and dear to some people. I think "stuff" is a milder way of omitting it than changing it to something universally palatable. Different people will react differently. Maybe "yada, yada" would suit you better than "stuff"... <g>
