Just off the top of my head, what about condensation of water vapor collecting on the chip? Seal the chip in a glass tube with leads coming out through the glass to the mother board, evacuate the tube containing the chip, with the glass tube immersed in liquid nitrogen. Would the chip crack? Or would the heat being produced by the chip be sufficient to prevent this from happening while being dissipated at the same time? Very interesting. Are there systems whose speeds are such that the cpu must be cooled to low temperatures?
