NO!Short interest dollar amount NOT IMPORTANT imo..does that mean short interest at say NAZ 1800 in April 2002 was supporting a bull case?..it was still pretty high then.

All that matters is where the market is, where it has come from at the last turn (in this case Oct), short interest ratio and short interest relative to float, stock ownership and inventory, and actual shares available for trading.

The dollar amount may be higher..sure..but that brings me to the last and most important point of all.

IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE the shorts got in ! (like overhead in reverse)

So what if say BRCM rebounded from what 10 to 22? What if the short average is around say 80 or 100? Does it matter? It is an investment ! Until they cover at 3 or 4 maybe.

The weak/late ones have probably covered already.

Also keep in mind, folks probably kept shorting this rally and kept covering.

THAT DOES NOT GET REPORTED AS SHORT INTEREST. ie the opening and closing of ST positions in between report dates.

So such ST shorts are there to fuel the rally even if the long timers do not cover !
