Do not underestimate the internet channel, a lot of organizations are profiting heavily from it. In addition Carver products can also be found in many retail stores.

I have a fair grasp of what internet can do for a sales organisation. In the case of Carver selling relatively expensive, information intensive product that may (or may not) aspire for the high end, I am not too sure they can get all the way with internet. As a promo / customer interaction tool yes, but as a single or most important channel I am not so sure. It is important that Carver has product in stores all over as well.

Yes probably Bob Carver was a loss in terms of good Audio ideas, but let's face it, he probably was not good in managing, otherwise Carver would not be in this situation.

Management is important and it rarely pays having an engineer as a VP. But in this segment ideas and constant refinement is key to long term success. I guess I have worries that the Sonys of the world are going to drown Carver out if Carver doesn't have something special.

Bob was important because he had ideas. Maybe not mangerial skill but ideas. I know how important ideas are for an audio equipment company.

Carver Corporation is in a better situation than a start up company (through their stock value does not reflect that); they have good reputation, pieces in place, as well as having a chance to get a piece of ATCO.

They have a few (ok, a lot) going for them as a turnaround. That is why I am checking them out. But I am looking for one more long (years) investment for my portfolio. That means I want to understand where Carver want to be in, say, two years and how they intend to get there. The jury is still out.

If this was a new Audio company that declared that they will be the first company to sell high-end Audio's through the internet, their stock price would have skyrocketed.

As a fad maybe. You must not confuse high end with hi fi and consumer stereo equipment. Entirely different type of customer.

The only concern at the moment is cash??

...and a strategy based not only on internet sales. I'll get on with my DD and post back here if (when) I find something of value.

Thanx for your input.
