Wanhao, if only I had a dime for everytime non-engineers confused acronyms in the technology business... Engineers are concerned with the atomic structure of widgets and the zeros and ones of software code, financial analysts are concerned with the meaning. This also cuts over to PR people who write the press releases - the best PR people are not technical and things like this sometimes get by them, just like they get by technical reporters.

All the distinguished engineers I know would struggle to write a mediocre press release, and the great PR people don't know DRC from DNA. IMO.
