Nortel Networks (NT) 17.80 +0.35: -- Update -- Inventories fell to $4.17 bln from $4.37 bln in Q4; lack of guidance and continued pessimism a negative, but NT appears to be doing a better job of managing inventories than CSCO. NT's layoff total rose to 20,000 from last count of 15,000, reflecting increasing pessimism about a pick-up in demand.

F5 Networks (FFIV) 8.55 +2.43: Posts Q2 loss of $0.19 a share, 3 cents better than downwardly revised estimates; company pegging Q3 EPS of -$0.05 to breakeven (consensus est. -$0.04), on revenues of $28-$30 mln.
