"I am generally in agreement with the concept that share buybacks is another way to gauge stock option expense (as opposed to SFAS at date of grant)---if the share buybacks are doing nothing more than offsetting dilution from stock option exercise. I haven't looked at Intel closely enough yet to determine whether this is the case." I was under impression that this is the Intel thread... Actually, it would be a good test of your accounting technology if it will match the actual $1B/quarter stock buyback - all historical data are there. - Ali
