Vinod,

GroupWise *doesn't* require NetWare either. If, however, you like the idea of having a single point of administration, a NetWare/GroupWise setup is ideal.

The BorderManager suite of products enhances Internet offerings regardless of what platform the company is using to host their web site. WebMasters who choose a platform that uses NDS can integrate their BorderManager boxes with their NDS schema (and enjoy the inherent benefits).

If Ford invented a carburetor that 1) would fit my Geo, 2) was reasonably priced, and 3) helped *my* car get 4 to 10 times the miles-per-gallon. The purchase would be a no brainer. (Regardless of the logo on the carb.)

Novell's intent is not to develop JAVA applications but to develop a platform that runs JAVA applications better (faster) than any other. Say someone develops an accounting package in JAVA. (They didn't have to write a single line of NLM code.) And it screams on NetWare. Odds are that the network platform of choice for this accounting package will be NetWare.

Same scenario as above, say these 300,000 JAVA programmers develop 10,000 programs that run better on NetWare than any other platform. You do the math.
