Thanks CB. We don't see too much about NO in the Seattle Times rag unless it is a spectacular headline. I have to search for info.
It's my hope, that someday, there will be an investigation of the question about possible shoddy work, or were the plans and designs just wrong in the first place. In the meantime, we need to fix what can be fixed.
I will say though, my non technical brain doesn't understand why it makes sense, logically and/or financially, to continue rebuilding structures that are below sea level. How many times does the government/taxpayers have to do this? Or is the entire area under the water table?
One more thing I really don't understand. When I looked at NO, and all the heavy industry, and port facilities, service industries, shipping and marine industries, hospitality industries, etc that create jobs for people, and good paying ones at that...why are so many people of NO so poor?
Seems to me I remember the number of population was about 500,000.....
All the things my group got together was given to a church group, and FINALLY it got to people who could use the items. We had several hundred pounds of things, including new women's underwear, which as you know, don't weigh much. <gg> Lots of beach towels (could be used for blankets as well) and all sorts of things for the babies. We just received the nicest thank you note....that was a nice surprise, but certainly wasn't necessary. It's hard being far away from something terrible to help the people, but we try, however we may. |
