OT> Hey guys. Heard you were unclear on a very old post of mine. I was referring to swing traders vs. short-sellers on the SAME stock.
When I play power swing trades like BAMM 2.75 to 45. . .or TUNE from 4.50 to 60 or SIEB from 11 to 70, etc., etc. I contend that I am making a 10 bagger or 15 bagger in a very short time span [usually less than 3 days]. Whereas a short-seller, playing those same stocks would have to wait weeks or months and hardly ever see such stocks return from where they came, thus never make the same money on such trades. . . [unless they daytraded it for months and months]. . .which proves my point.
On the short side, it took BAMM 6 months to return to single digits. . . SIEB still can't seem to break 20, and I have been waiting a long time to see TUNE hit 25, so I can re-establish my positions. . . .now for a short to make a 15 bagger shorting TUNE from 60 to 25, they would have to make lots and lots of trades over a long period of time. . . .meanwhile, I am long gone with my swing trade 15 bagger.
Personally, I have no patience for short-selling. . . it takes way too long to see gains. . .and because I often play low floaters, there is a severe risk of such a stock to run back toward the high on news. . .and many times you are holding short overnight. . . .nope, too risky for me. . .but I see how others might enjoy it.
Now to help understand how the percentage of upward moving point-gainers differ from the same number of points moving downward, I suggest taking this little brain-teaser I wrote several months back on percentages. . .
