I would say the same: PR, PR, PR, ... Clinton went to Macedonia, Nixon went to Vietnam, LBJ went to Vietnam, Bush went to Afghanistan and Iraq. This is what Presidents do. Do they use these trips as photo ops? Of course, Clinton did as have the rest. Why not? Who wouldn't? The point is to support the troops by meeting with them. These trips, however brief, give encouragement to those on the firing line. In GWB's case, it also allowed a brief meeting with some of the Iraqi Council. It is a pity that the anti-GWB crowd can't get past their hate even when the President is trying to do something for the troops.
