What possible motive could Israel have had for deliberately attacking an American ship?

Somebody was afraid that Egypt could be getting transmissions from it of Israeli movements? In the fog of war, a lot of bad decisions are made. I mentioned this incident in passing, and you challenged me on it.

I am just pointing out that it was a highly unusual incident. And as I said, we will never know.
