I don't think one can draw any conclusions about Dell -vs- E machines based on a January price. It could for example simply be that E machines is saddled with a bunch of Christmas inventory that they're blowing out way below cost since they know it will be worth even less in six months.

Or it could be they've found some magic that allows them to under cut Dell permanently.

Either way you can't tell from January pricing which is so skewed by inventory concerns.
