TGP, the reason why I don't want to trade in my retirement accounts has everything to do with risk. Typically I don't want my retirement fund to be exposed to such risks. I'd rather trade with money I can afford to lose, even if the capital gains taxes eat into my profits.

As for Efficient Market Theory, I've also heard that in a traffic jam, all lanes proceed at the same speed when you average everything out. Of course, I'm still tempted to switch lanes when I see my current lane moving slower than the others.

I guess I prefer the Economic Game Theory over the Efficient Market Theory, but hey, I'm young and naive. ;-)
