This disease looks bad, but not as fearsome as some of the flus we've had in the past.

One concern is that flus like this often mutate into different strains fairly quickly, sometimes becoming more dangerous.

A happier possibility is that it would mutate into something milder.

OTOH, since death as one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse is clearly redundant (famine, war, plague and death are the four horsemen), all we need to proclaim apocalyptic disaster are the other three. If we consider collapsing stock and job markets to be famine and call the new SARS outbreak a plague, we can congratulate Bush for leading us into an apocalyptic catastrophe of Biblical proportions!
