Japan's tool book-to-bill climbs

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Japan-based semiconductor production equipment manufacturers posted a book-to-bill ratio of 1.19 for December, up from 1.05 in November, according to the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ).

The three-month average of worldwide bookings in December was 139.1 billion yen ($1.22 billion), up 4.3 percent sequentially and up 18.2 percent from the like period a year ago.

Billings were 116.9 billion yen ($1.02 billion) in December, down 8.1 percent sequentially but up 4.5 percent from the like period a year ago.
