CNCX really doesn't cater to the consumer dial-up market. It would be something of a waste to put together an advanced network for v.90. If you saw their press release on Q498 earnings, you'd see that just over 75% of their revenues come from businesses, with the balance being the consumer. Do the enterprise-focused ISPs need dial-up? Yes, to a limited extent to fill the pipelines during off-peak hours. Nothing like having an idle network to drive engineers crazy. But it is the businesses who are driving CNCX. And they demand high speed, reliable networks with plenty of enhanced services (read: high margins) bundled in to get them on board. It takes plenty of $$$ to do that, meaning this is no AOL or MSPG model. Those guys couldn't handle the enterprise business.
As for the future, I will refer you to the numerous partners that CNCX has on board for my reference. These guys have done an excellent job of positioning themselves with the likes of SBC, Williams (who just raised their stake, I might add), Telecom Italia and others. No dummies, these guys do this for a living and they've invested in CNCX. They recognize that CNCX fills a nice void in their own portfolios, so they not only invested but also sell their products or offer them their own services. Qwest, Teleigent and others also recognize the advantage of CNCX and are customers. Again, this company is running in a very fast and savvy crowd.
