[AWRE. . . sigh. . .]

Greg --

Okay, here's what might be happening. RC is chasing down the facts as we speak and I'll let you know what he finds out as soon as he calls back.

First of all, there is no chance whatsoever that ADI/AWRE is doing a development deal with Cisco without Amati being told. This just doesn't happen. Amati's relationship is not in jeopardy.

One possibility is that someone, say Company XYZ, submitted a RFP and part of it included an ADSL/DMT component and the deadline said the bid had to be in by such and such a date. If the only DMT chip available by that date is ADI's then that's the one Cisco would submit. There would be no guarantee Cisco would get the whole bid or even any of it and even if they did, there'd be no guarantee they'd use the submitted components.

Okay, this is all hypothetical, but it's the most likely case at this point. Clearly someone wanted the press to think Aware was getting a deal with Cisco and leaked something.

Once we know what it is, we'll be able to assess more accurately how it'll impact. Actually, I doubt it'll do anything. Amati's is a development partnership and I think we're comparing ants and antelopes here.

I'll post more as I know it. But for now, I still haven't had my coffee! :)

Cheers!

Pat
