Thinking out loud:

What has gone well for OE?
They have the best technology.
Their management is stable and focused.
The unwavering confidence of Standard and Poors.
Their alliance with Siemens (Synerject), an FI superstar.
Their alliance with Lotus, an auto engineering superstar.
Mercury Marine, the marine engine leader.
Bombardier/Rotax, the leader in PWC's, jet boats, and snowmobiles.

What has not gone well:
The infamous delays on signing a 4 stroke automotive deal.
Asia economic collapse (loss and/or delay of 2-stroke deals).
Asia political instability (Indonesia/India/Pakistan).
Ficht captured significant market share.
Devaluation of Australian currency.

I'm sure I've embarrassed myself by leaving out some important items, but I was just winging this quickly. But it's clear the good still outweighs the bad. And a lot of the bad was beyond their control. Plus, none of the bad included OE being beat out by a non OEM auto competitor. Why don't we all work on the list and see how it turns out. I'll bet the good will still outweigh the bad.
