I just bought more PBG this morning.

I think that the chances that THAI will be better than SAGD is quite high...more likely than not. PBG is not just "taking a shot". The concept is also being used in the work on exploiting "shale".

THAI has quite a number of very valuable aspects, each of which can make PBG a very large company.

If THAI is only partly successful in reducing NG useage it will be very valuable to PBG, which will take a piece of profits in lieu of licensing fees.

If THAI is only sucessful in upgrading the bitumen in situ, and not in anything else, it will displace SAGD and PBG will take a piece of the action.

If THAI is not successful in either of the above, but it allows oilsands players to exploit much thinner veins of oilsands deposits, it will enhance the overall reserves of the Oilsands and many oilsands players, and PBG will take a piece of the action of any company that wants to actually produce what is impossible to extract by mining and SAGD.

If THAI does all the things that PBG says it does, a 10-bagger will be a very conservative estimation.

But I can't give you actual probabilities, as much as I'd like to. And PBG's actual oilsands deposits (which the THAI test will actually be producing this year), as well as their other petroleum interests, does provide some downside protection.
