John "Crushed" Kerry Calls For Alito Filibuster - Knowing The Votes Aren't There

In what has to qualify as the most transparent political stunt ever seen, John "Crushed" Kerry has called for a filibuster on Judge Alito (And just how fitting is it that he's making that call from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland - where one supposes all those "world leaders" who supported him are gathering and lamenting his loss with him.)

Here's the only problem with that - All 55 Republican Senators have said they will not vote for a filibuster, 3 Democrats (Byrd, Ben Nelson, and Tim Johnson) said they would vote to confirm Judge Alito, and at least 3 Democrats (Mary Landrieu, Ken Salazar and Diane Feinstein) said they'd vote not to confirm, but would not vote for a filibuster. That's 61 votes for cloture - and you need 60 sustain a filibuster. Apparently John Kerry is about as good at math as he is at duck hunting.

Gee, I wonder if this stunt, plus his playing in the fever swamps of the Kos sandbox have anything to do with his statement today that he won't rule out another Presidential run. So it appears he's going after the Al Gore supporters first.

Oh, please John, do it. We've still got the domain name www.crushkerry.com and have an in-house library (a/k/a our "Archives" section) full of great material.

And I'm sure all those red-state Democrat Senators want to strangle Kerry about now.
