Dave,
Nokia is the dominant manufacturer of TDMA/GSM phones. Unfortunately, Nokia has yet to "dominant" the CDMA space and, I believe, Nokia is one of only 2 handset vendors not to purchase Qualcomm ASICs, the other is Motorola (right?).
you are wrong on both counts.
I have no idea; why don't you enlighten me?
I am not in a postion to enlighten anyone. The telecom world is quite complicated and each of us formulate our own opinion.
I originally posted here to vent some frustration over nokia's recent claims. Why do they keep getting away with totally groundless statements?
We all know how they delivered on their GPRS promise. If you go back and look at press releases, on Oct 19, 2000, they claimed WCDMA handsets will be available the second qtr of 2002 in volume. On Feb 25, 2001, Nokia claimed that wcdma handsets will be for sale in volumes during the 3rd quarter of 2002. We know the chances of them delivering on that promise is zero.
The wireless world has many emperors with no clothes. NOK, AWE, Cingular, NTT, BT, VOD, DT are all competing for the title. We shall soon see. Get your handsets with digital cameras ready so you can capture the images of their jaws dropping when they see what the S Koreans are doing with 1x EV do in May, for the World Cup.
