Were they external Zip drives or an internals? Were they both IDE or was the Iomega Zip SCSI?

The internal IDE Zip drive costs less than the SCSI internal Zip to manufacture. From what I have seen, Iomega is only trying to push the internal IDE through OEMs (less technical support cost), and not through retail channels.
