The load is a one time payment on dollars going into select funds. Once paid, that money can be applied to any Fidelity load. I moved money from Magellan, also a load fund to selects and the load was not charged as I had paid it with Magellan. I paid 3% on about $7k in selects many years ago in one account. Trading has that amount in six figures now. You can trade as often as you want. No transfer fee over 30 days, .75% under 30. This is a small price when prices fluctuate several percent a day in the volatile funds like FSESX and FSELX. Funds are repriced each hour of the trading day. I seldom have traded under 30 days as the trends usually would last longer than that. You can trade into a money market account specific to selectfunds. The short term fee doesn't apply to the money market. I believe really large accounts may even have these fees waived.

I have often thought of going to cash from March through November. I'd probably have a better return if I would get out of my way during the summer. Sharon
