It's all so stupid. there is zero chance apple didn't test the phone for reasonable stresses. Having a 2500 pound fatty sit on the phone isn't reasonable especially when he has a mic and is a retarded google fan boy.
There's little doubt they tested the device. The questions are: How did a major design flaw slip through the cracks (same with the now-pulled iOS 8.0.1 update), and how costly it will be? It the warping happened only with back pockets of 300+ lb people, it would be a minor event, but even on Apple fan forums, user reports are making it clear that 120 lb women with tight jeans and 170 kb men with regular pants are included in the affected group when using their front pockets as well. Sure - your 300 lb back-pocket guy might damage it severely and instantly, but slow warping over a few weeks isn't going to be much more pleasant for the others.
