<<I guess we are all aware of the extent of Singapore's wiredness and Malaysia Cyber Corridor will have an impact although I believe the project has come to near a standstill. >>

I used to work with Lucent Tech and had opportunity to have dinner with delegates from Singapore and Malaysia's Ministry of Telecomm (1996). They were outlining huge plans for fiber and cable.

Anyone thinking about Africa? Another Lucent/AT&T opportunity.

They want everything we have in huge metro U.S. areas overnight. However, infrastructure is not there. Telephone and power lines are insulated with paper that causes shorts after heavy rains.

Village women will pull down sagging phone lines after storms to take the copper and make jewelry. Ninety-five percent of the population do not know what the telephone pole is for or even what a phone is. Civil war is rampant.

Potential there in 25 years.
