i bought the retail boxed full version of win2000pro. yours sounds like it came pre-installed. therein lies the difference, i guess. the manual came with the shrink-wrap version.

"the on-screen manual it requests the user to create such disks using 1.44 floppies. Think it would be okay to use Zip or Jaz instead?"

personally, i'd stay with the floppies. you may be asked to install them by name, i.e setup boot disk 1, setup disk 2, etc. seems like floppies would work best in that scenario.

just a reminder. there are setup disks (4) and there is the emergency repair disk (1). the erd is the one that should be updated from time to time.
