Ted, the cost of Iraq is nothing compared to how much the prescription drug benefit for Medicare will cost. $400B anyone?

I get it.....it cheaper to kill, then to save lives. <g>

Why did Republicans vote for this benefit? Because few Republicans want to be accused of not caring for spiraling costs of prescription drugs. It's similar to the reason why Democrats voted for funding the Iraq war, because few Democrats want to be accused of being soft on terrorism.

It goes deeper than that........the Dems. didn't dare vote against the war or they would have been branded unpatriotic. I know you probably feel otherwise but fow a while, there was a mood in this country that if everyone didn't do what Bush wanted they were suspect as Americans. That mood was effective in getting us into the Iraqi war......a war that may end up costing us a fortune in lives and money.

So every politician gets what he or she wants, but then the deficit grows and both sides blame each other.

That is always true but its always been that the GOP accused the Dems of being easy with money. That seems to have changed now.
