You write, " . . . california mass murder of women, Carol Chessman, got gassed."

For the record, Caryl Chessman never murdered anyone. He was a convicted kidnaper (under the Little Lindbergh Law), robber (?), and sexual predator, and was known as the "Red Light Bandit." At the time of his trip to the California gas chamber, he had been, to that date, the longest resident (twelve years) of death row. During his stint on death row, he became a "jailhouse lawyer" and assisted his fellow inmates, not because of any new-found humanity in his heart, but because he enjoyed screwing with the establishment.

A note of trivia: Chessman was put to death on the same date that Francis Gary Powers' U2 was shot down by the Russians.
