We just want a fair shake for our kids a "fair shake" is a relative term - there are no absolutes in this area. Would my experience been a "fair shake" for your kids ? I suspect not. However, it was OK for me as a kid/young adult. Them were the cards I was dealt :-) One can attribute various concepts to "what is fair and not", based on ones experiences, but there is no universal agreement on "what is fair".
