Desktop is just part of the picture. Sun gave it away and the shareholders on this thread at least don't seem to care ?

Server side it's just a matter of time; lot's of iron competition and reduced margins. Even now if I wanted a n-way Solaris solution I would buy a 4 or 8 way x86 box and run Solaris x86 on it. At least at some point in the future I could run NT, QNX, SCO, Linux or other operating systems on it. As people start to do that iron sales will slip.

Companies like NOK, MOT, QCOM, and SUNW are gonna set the new protocols, and MSFT has done nothing to form alliances in those quarters. Bye, Bill.

Gonna , one day, sometime, that's nice. CE is here now and vendors don't need to waste time in a committee setting defining protocols because MSFT will supply them. Also MSFT with their recent telco/cable buying spree have ensured CE's success as a set-top OS.
