The Chessie we have now has bad hips. We had one hip worked on when he was 8 months old and it took a year for it to heal. Screwed him up mentally. His father had field trial titles in both the US and Canada and was heavily promoted by the Chessie Club. Up until then the club had been real conscientious about hip displacia. I did some checking and the dog had a tendency to throw pups with bad hips and our pup's mother had flunked her test even though the owner claimed she had passed. I notified the club and was blown off. I guess the title meant more than the health of the breed.
