there should be no bonuses period. you miss the point obviously

the corporate greed of the past 20-30 years has come home to roost and it is ugly . many public companies themselves were nothing more than ponzi schemes. the investor money came flowing in, the execs spent it on lavish lifestyles and then bankruptcy gets declared.
