I suspect they are all applicable, but I can't tell you for sure. They are probably just paying for the thumbnail right now.....and that would just be for US sales because the international thumbnail patent has expired.

The DVDR market ( about a billion I think) is much smaller than the digital camera ( at least 25 billion), camcorder ( at least 9 billion), and camera and camcordercell phone markets ( growing at an astounding pace).

And DVDR prices are falling rapidly, so it is not on their front burner right now. Eventually...a long time down the road....set top recording boxes of all kind might be paying royalties.

The snowball has reversed for Ampex...just now beginning to pick up steam. But their resources are still limited, and so they are just concentrating on the largest markets.

If you have doubt about the potency of their patented techniques, take a gander at their products...the remarkable things they can achieve with mammoth amounts of digital data.
For instance one of their DST libraries can store 26 terabytes of data in less than 7sq feet of floor space, and access any of it down to a byte with remarkable speed for a tape drive. No other company has a system that can begin to match that performance. ( didn't sell well mainly because not that many companies need that sort of performance...or are willing to pay up front for it even though it might prove cheaper in the long run).
