The mammoth bill, the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, would impose reduced fines against churches and other places of worship that inadvertently allow political activity on their properties more than twice a year. On the third violation, the religious organizations would lose their tax exemption for one year.

The Internal Revenue Service prohibits political campaign activity, for or against any candidate, from taking place at all organizations that receive tax exempt status under a section of the federal tax code

What's with the "inadvertently?" That does not make much sense.

And it's hard for me to see the potential ill effects. It does not discriminate against a particular religion. imho, if I have the right to political activity, then I should have it everywhere.

This seems like a sensationalized news piece. If this becomes law, does it help the republicans more than the democrats? Inner-city churches are predominately non-white and they vote democrat.
