The Football Network Announces Its Plan To Open An Internet Football Superstore On Their Website
PR Newswire - December 18, 1998 07:45

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- TFN, The Football Network, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: TFNK) announced today its plan to open an online interactive football merchandise superstore. The superstore will be hosted through the current website at footballnetwork.com. TFN plans on opening its comprehensive, user friendly and easy to navigate superstore by first quarter of 1999. The virtual doors will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offer the broadest selection of football products, merchandise and memorabilia possible. The superstore will provide football fanatics and customers of any age with a one-stop source for all their football merchandise.

Jantonio Turner, President of The Football Network stated, "Our strategy is simple, to offer a complete superstore totally dedicated to Americas #1 sport, Football. The exciting thing about this sales and marketing channel is that it will allow TFN to diversify our revenue stream while we anticipate and move towards the launch of our 24-hour football channel network. We feel that utilizing the Internet will be an effective way to broaden the quality and scope of our business while building long term customer loyalty."

Mr. Turner further commented, " With the explosive growth and potential of online retailers, we feel very confident about becoming a major niche reseller ourselves. Almost 9 million households will have shopped on line by year-end, up from 4.5 million last year, according to Cambridge, Massachusetts based Forrester Research, Inc. Market researcher Boston Consulting Group projects that online retailing is growing more than 200 percent annually and merchants will sell $13 billion worth of goods this year through the Internet. I feel that by creating this interactive addition to our current site, we are positioning ourselves to take full advantage of the Internet."

The Football Network is an emerging high growth national football cable and television network providing programming 24 hours a day, available to the home backyard satellite dish market, to cable television systems, and to direct satellite television providers. TFN plans to offer a channel totally dedicated to Football which will preview games, highlights, news, press conferences, events, football programs and movies, educational and instructions on the game. TFN is currently negotiating to acquire rights to programming at all levels of football, from NFL coverage, to college, junior college, semi-pro, high school and youth football. Talks are also under way to secure coverage of alternative forms of football such as Canadian, Arena, Professional Indoor and Australian Rules Football. TFN will generate revenue in six primary ways: Advertising sales, affiliate, subscriber and syndication fees, viewer's calls, program sales, merchandise and licensing agreements. TFN plans its initial launch by July of 1999. For more information visit our website @ www.footballnetwork.com.
