Hi Monty; Diazion will do in the fire ants fairly good,
I use the one put out by Ortho. About a tablespoon full
on each bed you find, ( they say a teaspoon full)
will do; sometimes they move and you need
to go back once a week until you get them all, then about
once a month keeps them under control. They come back
from surrounding areas so there is no such thing as
a permanent fix.
A little Seven Dust takes out the stink bugs.

Diazion also gets a lot of other pests too, but your
supposed to get it out before planting the garden, or at
least before the plants start producing.
I'm real careful and use very little during the season,
like I'll put some in a row that I just pulled up several days before I re-plant.
And no Them plants are not ready to short but got more to go, 10ft easy maybe 12 some stalks are 6-1/2 inches at the base ( circumference )
Jim
PS I've had a few calls from people I didn't even know,
wanting to buy some of my Okra seed. :-)
