The coal generation ceiling on NG prices has numerous varying factors. How much coal generation will be available to switch back on in response to higher ng prices each year remains a big question. How much for all of the incremental O&M costs for coal plants that get upgraded is another.

Short term though I suspect any spike in NG prices will be met with less ng generation demand and more ng production.

This time last year $2 NG was transformed away through peaking plants. This year $4 plus NG in my area and we are not generating.

Not so long ago there was a loud widespread conviction that NG would be $7+ forever and they were proved wrong. Sooner or later demand will get way ahead of supply for awhile.
