TOO ALL RE PATENTS--everyone on this thread is looking for an absolute answer re the patent issue.i can feel the frustration in your posts by calling people names if they provide more questions than answers.however,re patents there are no answers at this point!! so if you cant accept "no answer" then you might consider to be out of this stock if you consider this issue to be critical to your decision logic for owning. the point is noone knows ( even baat ) if their discovery is patentable becouse they must be able to show a unique,,never before discovered product or process that has been reduced to practice and that they were the first to discover ( it ).so lets say they file for a patent and the patent office finds that john deere used a modified piston (which they did ) patented by them in 1960 and used in tractors mfg between 1962 and 1972 in all their models 4010 and 4020.i have such a tractor but i haven"t the slightest idea if the deere modification is anything like the baat changes but possible the modification their employing is now common knowledge.take this possible case and multiply it by 4 or 5 changes their utilizing ( intake manifold,exhaust manifold,cam changes,pistons ). and you can understand how complex this is.and this just speaks to the mechanical side.beyond that, the patent office could allow the patent in part or to allow the entire thing--another variable and more time passes.lets say the patent office issues a patent only to be followed by a group that claims they had been doing work which predates the baat work and following an investigation the patent is given to another co. another possibility is that baat gets a patent followed by another co filing suite in a court claiming that this patent violates one they already own.baat will likely be allowed to move forward with selling and using their patent but the case puts a cloud on the horizon until the ultimate outcome is determined .please keep in mind that we've been making cars for 100 years and many things have already been thought of. i have owned a lot of shares of baat and i like the co.i intend to buy more especially if the price continues to drop.my rational is that there's got to be something of value at 94mpg and if it gets low enough the downside risk is relatively small ( but still zero ) with a big upside longer term. dennis
