Roskill always very conservative. They were out last year in their predictions and are probably trying to save face. Mcquarrie and WDR have predicted 3.50 nickel. I think there is room for more production as demand seems to increase unabated each year. I am convinced the laterites will produce nickel. At what cost and in what quantity is not known. As Dave has recently pointed out INCO is not doing badly. Both INCO and Falconbridge have been hard at work looking for non-smelter options for sulphides. So there is a second revolution i.e., 2-3% sulphides being processed with a variety of hydrometallurgical methods. Should drive nickel costs down to the 1$ range. I understand that Canmine is looking at these options for Maskwa and feasibility is well under way. We may be in for a pleasant surprise at Maskwa. I am expecting news from Canmine on Maskwa in the near future. That's my humble opinion.
