Stocks on the move in the U.S. market.

Gateway 2000 Inc. (GTW): The No. 2 direct seller of personal computers wants to raise the number of shares that it can issue to 1 billion from the 220 million currently authorized, according to its proxy statement. Gateway said it wants to be able to issue shares for acquisitions, stock dividends and stock splits without first getting shareholder approval. Gateway fell 3 1/4 to 68 1/2.
