The So-Called Fear Card

Blogs for Bush

The Democrats have found their buzz phrase for the moment: "fear card".

President Bush can't mention anything related to terrorism, 9/11, or the war on terror without because accused of playing the "fear card."

Now what's funny about this, is that it's actually liberals and Democrats who are trying to play the "fear card" to their advantage...

Last month, Harry Reid said "Americans have heard tough talk from President Bush over the last five years, but the reality is, his policies have made America less safe."

During the 2004 presidential campaign, Kerry said Bush "made America less safe."

Nancy Pelosi said last October, "the Iraq war has made us less safe, and led to squandered opportunities to fight global terror because of the allocation of resources in Iraq."

Ted Kennedy claimed "the war has clearly made us less safe and less secure. It has made the war against Al Qaeda harder to win."

Howard Dean told Chris Matthews on Hardball back in 2004 that "This president has made us less safe, not more safe."

Less safe. Less safe. Less safe. Less safe. Less safe...

Who's really playing the fear card?

For years Democrats have been trying to regain power by accusing Bush and the Republican Party for making this country less safe and more vulnerable to terrorist attack.

Here's what really happening. The Democrats are trying hard to change subject from the war on terror. As Bush and the Republican show leadership and resolve and a plan for victory, all the Democrats can do is say "there is a better way," and then expect us to elect them before they'll tell us what that "better way is." Of course, no one knows what their "better way" is... heck, they don't even know.

Based on their recent rhetoric, we can say that they believe that demoralizing our troops and telling al Qaeda how we track them will make us safer.

The Democrats are the ones playing the fear card, because its easier than offering a plan for victory.

It's time for the Democrats to sit down, shut up, and let a proven leader do his job.
