I'm sure he'll address those attacks he made in the past when he comes out of rehab. It's doubtful he'll stand by his original words, though, and it's also doubtful any of his political opponents will ever let him off the hook for that, either.

I don't understand how you can defend a man who was unreservedly cruel to those addicted to drugs [as well as others], and only gained empathy when he himself came down with the affliction. He doesn't deserve condemnation but neither does he deserve anyone's sympathy or defense. At this point, he needs to earn them.
