I am not 100% sure that we can do anything except delay the eventual acquisition by the Islamists of a nuclear weapon. In any event, when nukes are involved, the methods of warfare shift to our side of the divide, a divide the Islamists will never cross. They are simply not credible as potential enemies engaged in traditional, big ticket warfare.

Given that as a starting point, I think there is a lot of merit in trying to encourage liberal tendencies in Muslim counries. Iran, for one, is a veritable potential hornets' nest of rebellion against the Mad Mullahs. That is a hornets' nest worth stirring.
