SI is increasingly optimized for 600 x 800 resolution, which is the most common configuration (more than 80% of users). It works well on 480x640 and 768x1024.

I imagine if you set your resolution that high, you did so because you like to do a lot of things at once....a lot of people with these huge screens shrink their browser to take up the left side of the screen (SI works really well in 1000h x 600w), then use the other half with another browser for monitoring quotes, news, etc...
