<<I trust they'll figure out a way to reduce that>>

good luck. the reason they (and GM and others) are offering these insane incentives right now is that they lose less money on every car they build/finance under the incentive plans than they would just idling the friggin' factories and furloughing the workers (the UAW contracts bascially don't let F or anybody else lay anyone off).

here are some stats for Ford. In 1998, they sold 3,988k cars and trucks, had 20.4% car and 30.5% truck market share, and employed 342,545 people at an average hourly wage rate of $24.30. In 2001, they sold 3,885k cars and trucks, had 17.7% car and 27.4% truck market share, and employed 354,431 people at an average hourly wage rate of $27.38.

they ain't reducing nothing, except the value of F equity.

Cheers
