Hard to say. I fully expect most of the banks and utilities in the first world to get their software fixed before middle next year, thosre are not the ones to worry about.

What troubles me is the non-obvious glitches, e.g. GM tested their robots for Y2K "just in case" as it was "clear and obvious" that robots should be oblivious to the day of the week, much less the year.

Well, lo and behold, a significant portion of the robots did not work.

Only god knows how many "time-oblivious" embedded-mechanisms in actuality depend on the time and might not work come year 2K.
